Atwater in the Park is by far Detroit's premiere biergarten. Located downtown Grosse Pointe, the brewing facility is housed in an old church giving it distinctive character when you walk through the doors or enter from the outdoor garden. You'll also notice the beer is brewed on the old altar.

The whole place is laid out with community seating which is meant to invite people together to enjoy good drink, food, and conversation.

The menu is German themed offering some serious love for schnitzel. You won't find a shortage of kielbasa, bratwurst, knockwurst, sauerkraut, wiener schnitzel, chicken schnitzel and even an eggplant & portobello schnitzel for the vegetarians. Worth noting some dishes can be made dairy free or gluten free based on allergic needs. All around this is good beer drinking food.

Theres over 25 Atwater beers available and of those, 15 are only available at this brewery. They also make their own spirits incase your not in the mood for great beer.

If you're looking for an unique food and drinking experience, its worth the drive.
